About the Topic

Transaction Management

In general, transaction management refers to features for organizing, processing and supporting all shopping-related transactions done by customers in the storefront. With Intershop Commerce Management, this includes, among others:

Cart

A shopping cart in an online shop is a virtual basket where the customers collect the products they want to buy. Depending on the online shop, the shopping cart offers different features, like changing the quantity of products, deleting products from the shopping cart, redeeming coupons, starting the checkout.

Checkout

In e-commerce the checkout process reflects the steps that have to be performed to place an order. All data needed to fulfill the order have to be provided by the customer.

The main steps are:

  • Selecting products
  • Providing an address for invoicing and delivery
  • Selecting a payment method and a delivery method
  • Acceptance of legal terms and conditions
